‘First Chelsea, Now Liverpool…’ Report Confirms Reds Are Keen On Recruiting Dutch International Defender

Liverpool are interested in signing Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian newspaper claim that the Reds have joined Chelsea in keeping tabs on the Netherlands international’s contract situation, using the headline “‘First Chelsea, Now Liverpool”.

De Ligt is currently in talks with Juve over a new deal. He has a €120m (£103m) release clause, which he wants lowered, and it’s more than likely that his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is using the interest from the Reds and other teams in order to put pressure on his current club.

Pimenta has taken over from Mino Raiola as de Ligt’s representative and she is expected to hold talks with Juventus in the coming days about the Dutchman’s contract.

De Ligt has spoken out in recent weeks to say he is weighing up his options so it will be interesting to see how negotiations play out and whether a more affordable buyout fee is agreed upon.
