Five Bundesliga Stars Liverpool Scouts May Be Targeting Ahead Of January

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool are exceptionally good at identifying talent who have the potential to develop into world-class players in the future. Their recruiting department use both traditional scouting reports and statistical analysis when looking at possible targets.

The Bundesliga is of particular interest, considering that Germany does tend to offer chances to young, inexperienced players, who get tested very early on at an elite level.

Of course, the Reds may not make many signings during the January transfer window, but like with Takumi Minamino, sporting director Michael Edwards may exploit any opportunities that do emerge.

Press the “next page” as we identify five players currently playing in the Bundesliga that Liverpool scouts could be monitoring:

Kai Havertz

The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are said to be after the 20-year-old, while the Reds themselves have unsurprisingly been linked with the attacking midfielder as well.

Havertz has not been in the same sort of form that got him 20 goals last season, but he does have massive potential, which will certainly keep him on Liverpool’s radar.

Timo Werner

Strengthening the forward line and adding depth to the front three has been something that fans have been crying out for since last summer.

Werner’s 23 goals in 25 appearances this campaign make him an attractive prospect, particularly as he is equally comfortable playing off the left flank or through the middle. At 23, he is also a very good age.

Nordi Mukiele

Liverpool don’t have much cover in full-back areas, and although Nathaniel Clyne will offer a different option when he returns from a serious ACL injury, the defender may well be moved on.

A younger replacement could be sought either in January or next summer, with Mukiele, at 22 years of age, an interesting option. He is currently plying his trade with RB Leipzig, having made 20 appearances this season, scoring two goals and contributing two assists.

Jadon Sancho

The England international will certainly be on Liverpool’s watchlist. At 19 years of age, he is a leading player for Borussia Dortmund, having scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists already this campaign.

Sancho is being pursued by Chelsea and Manchester United as well, though, but his ability to cut in off the right flank would make him an ideal long term successor to Mo Salah.

Evan N’Dicka

With Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren having had regular injury problems, Liverpool’s scouting network are likely to be scouring the globe for potential centre-backs who could be more reliable than the pair.

N’Dicka would be a young option they may be looking at. At 20, he is already a regular for Eintracht Frankfurt, having made 13 appearances this season. He is also able to play left-back which could make him ideal cover for Andy Robertson as well.
