French Superstar’s Father ‘Contacted’ By Klopp As Liverpool Step Up Charm Offensive

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has “contacted” Kylian Mbappe’s father to register their interest in the Paris Saint-Germain forward, according to Le10 Sport.

The French magazine says the Reds would like the 21-year-old to replace Sadio Mane if the Senegalese international were to leave Anfield for Real Madrid.

Le10 Sport do, however, insist that there has been no offer from Liverpool for Mbappe and that PSG are unlikely to be convinced by any bid if one was made.

The only positive for Liverpool in their reported pursuit of the Frenchman is the fact that the player has still not signed a new contract.

Mbappe’s current deal at PSG expires in 2022 and no further talks have been held about an extension. So, even if a transfer is looking a bit far-fetched this summer, he could well be available for a more reasonable price next year if he runs his contract down to the final twelve months.
