“From What I’m Told…” Romano Offers New Update On Liverpool’s Pursuit Of Bundesliga Record Holder

There is currently no club leading the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The German international’s contract expires in June, with Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Barcelona having been mentioned as potential suitors for the 17-year-old. In a recent press conference, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer told Moussoko to join him at the Allianz Arena, prompting talk that the Bundesliga champions had also entered the battle for the teenager. However, Romano says Bayern are not favourites to sign the forward:

“From what I’m told, at the moment there are still no advanced negotiations between Bayern and Youssoufa Moukoko. It’s still an open situation. Moukoko is speaking to Borussia Dortmund, because Borussia Dortmund want to extend his contract, also with the potential plan to sell him at the right moment, as they did with Haaland, as they did with Sancho, as they will with Jude Bellingham. So with a very clear plan to sell him at the right moment. It’s up to Moukoko, but at the moment, nothing advanced with Bayern, and many clubs interested.”

Moukoko (who holds the record for the youngest player to play in the Bundesliga) is already in high demand but, if he has a good World Cup, the clamour for his signature will become even greater. Whether the Reds would have a chance of snapping up the teenager, though, it is up for debate,

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp does have plenty of pulling power, even with his side currently sitting in 6th, but Moukoko would have a pick of clubs due to his contract situation, so it will be a tough deal to pull off.
