Gallas Declares Liverpool “Ready To Fight For The Title” As He Makes Damning Arsenal Comparison

William Gallas believes Liverpool have put themselves firmly in the race for the title this season.

Arne Slot’s side sit top of the table after 10 games and, speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas contrasted the Reds’ resurgence to that of his former club Arsenal, who have struggled to to find their best form recently:

“Liverpool won the Premier League; they won the Champions League. They dropped off last season, and you can understand why, because maybe the players has heard the same things from Klopp for too long. You forgive them that because of what they won, Arsenal doesn’t have that excuse.”

“Arsenal has won absolutely nothing! Nothing. Why are they tired? Their arms don’t ache from lifting trophies. Explain to me why they are tired. Liverpool, they don’t look tired, they look like they’re ready to fight for the title.”

Tottenham’s example should keep Liverpool’s expectations in check

While Gallas clearly feels that Slot’s men will be competing for top spot at the end of the season, it is important to point out that we are still only in the early stages of the campaign.

After 10 games last season, Spurs had 26 points and sat in 1st place; that is one more point than the Reds have now. Ange Postecoglou’s team ultimately finished 5th.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Liverpool should suffer the same fate but it is something to keep in mind that strong starts can tail off.

Liverpool face a tough fixture this weekend

Aston Villa come to Anfield on Saturday night and there is no guarantee that the home side will pick up the three points. Unai Emery’s team are arguably better than Brighton, who the Reds struggled against last time out in the league.

If they do manage to grab the win, though, it would be another demonstration of the club’s title credentials.
