Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes that only Liverpool and Manchester City can win the Premier League title this campaign.

When asked to name his contenders for finishing top of the table, Neville said it is very much a two-horse race, with no other club likely to run them close:

“Liverpool and Man City (can win the title). City will definitely finish in the top two. Liverpool, I always have this little hope rather than thought that they might just dip slightly, and then maybe Tottenham are the only team I can see that can get close to them. I don’t feel Chelsea, United, Arsenal are in a position to get close to the top two. The Champions League will cause a problem for Tottenham but they’ve got some world-class strikers.”

Neville is right to point out that it is hard to look past either Liverpool or City. They set such high standards and it doesn’t seem like they will drop their levels anytime soon.

Spurs are the team who could potentially bridge the gap, but a lot will depend on manager Antonio Conte and whether he can get some consistent performances from his group of players.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are going through a transition period so it’s hard to tell how they will fare, while the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United will be focusing their efforts simply on finishing in the top four.
