“Go To Liverpool…” Ryan Babel Claims 39M Rated Dutch Star Should Snub United Interest

Ex-Liverpool star Ryan Babel says his fellow countryman Cody Gakpo should consider joining the Reds ahead of the likes of Manchester United.

The Dutchman has been heavily linked with a €45m (£39m) switch to Old Trafford but Babel believes a move to Anfield or even Arsenal would be a better choice:

“You see him linked to clubs in England, such as Manchester United. Everyone has the right price so let’s see how he develops in the tournament. He has shown enough quality that he is ready for the next step, whether it’s in January or next summer. As a Liverpool fan, I would tell him to go to Liverpool if they make an approach! Arsenal would also be an incredible team for him, with the current manager and the project that they’re building. He has to follow his heart.”

Gakpo has expressed his interest in joining Liverpool and, while Jurgen Klopp’s side have been mentioned as a potential suitor for the player in the past, it’s unlikely that they will bid for the winger during the January transfer window.

The Reds are thought to be prioritising a move for a midfielder, rather than recruiting another forward and, while Gakpo is undoubtedly a very talented player, he isn’t someone that the club need at this time.

He has played most of his football on the left flank for PSV and, with Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and even Darwin Nunez able to play in that position, there isn’t really any room for someone like Gakpo.
