“Going To Be Right Up There” Redknapp Claims Liverpool’s Statement Win Shows They Are Real Threat To Title Rivals

Ex- Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp expects his former club to be right in the mix for the Premier League title come the end of the season.

There has been a lot of talk about the Reds’ title rivals’ Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City after some high-profile transfers in the summer transfer window.

However, after watching Jurgen Klopp’s side dispatch Leeds pretty comfortably yesterday evening, Redknapp said that people should not be writing off the Merseyside club:

“People say Man United cannot win the league, with the money they’ve spent – of course they can and you can see the Ronaldo impact already. Chelsea look brilliant, Lukaku has made a great start. Of course, Man City are going to be there, I think they would have liked to have gotten a striker there, but Liverpool are going to be right up there.”

It is important to point out that, while Liverpool did far less business than their rivals in the transfer market, they still possess a squad that has won the Champions League and the Premier League in the last three years.

That experience could prove absolutely vital as we reach the back end of the season. Of course, the Reds will need much better luck with injuries than last campaign, but their promising start should be a cause for optimism going forward.
