Liverpool striker Divock Origi is closing in on a new five-year contract at the club, according to reports in the UK.
The Belgian international currently has one-year-left on his current deal with the Reds, and it’s believed the Merseyside club have offered a four-year extension.
Fans on Twitter are delighted that the Champions League hero is likely to stay at Liverpool this summer:

Good news. Really turned his career around. Origi is not the best at work rate and the press but he sure can finish and has the best positioning awareness I’ve seen for a long time. Super poacher. Brewster as our only option up top wouldn’t be fair on him developing. Pressure etc

Credit to the lad. He looked finished at Wolfsburg. 12 months later he’s scoring the winner in the Champions League final. Class.

10/10 for effort and being in the right place at the right time but never completely convinced when he’s brought on that we’ve brought on our best man. Last season’s goals buy him the novelty factor. We can afford it! So why not!

The striker has become a cult figure following his exploits in the Champions League semi-final and final this year. There had been reports, though, that La Liga side Real Betis may make a bid for Origi but, so far, no team has made an offer for the 24-year-old.
The Belgian international only made seven starts last season, and there was some concern that the player might leave Anfield in search of regular first-team football. However, it appears Origi will be signing an extension to remain at the club until 2024.
