Gotze flirts with Liverpool move after Fekir deal falls through

Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze has opened up once again about his desire to work with Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp and Gotze worked together at Dortmund before leaving to join Liverpool and Bayern Munich respectively, with Gozte supposedly rejecting the Reds in favour of the Bavarian club.

Things didn’t exactly go to plan with the midfielder at Bayern though, and he was soon shipped back to Dortmund where he is said to be considering his future once again.

With Liverpool’s search for an attacking midfielder still ongoing after a breakdown in negotiations with Lyon over Nabil Fekir, perhaps Gotze could be an option for Jurgen Klopp.

The 26-year-old certainly hasn’t closed the door to working with Klopp again, saying he would be interested in working with his former manager again – who arguably helped Gotze produce the football of his career.

Speaking to DAZN in Germany, Gotze said: “I decided to leave Bayern and Jurgen Klopp was interested in getting me to Liverpool. And I was also interested in working with him again.

“It’s still existing. He is a world-class coach and that’s why it’s always an option.

“I decided to join Borussia Dortmund, but it was not a decision against Liverpool or Jurgen Klopp. On the contrary.”
