Griezmann to Liverpool rumours addressed by Balague

Sky Sports News’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has discussed Liverpool’s chances of signing want-away forward Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann has often expressed his desire to move on from Atletico Madrid in the near future, with a host of options ahead of him for next summer when he is proposed to leave.

The likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United have all shown interest in the Frenchman, with the latter coming very close to capturing him last summer.

But with fresh reports stating that Liverpool could be interested in acquiring the services of the versatile forward, Balague has insisted the Reds are not an option for the star.

When asked if an Anfield move could be on the cards, Balague told Sky Sports: “Griezmann is thinking of different things.

“Liverpool have to prove they are genuine title contenders again to be able to attract the likes of Griezmann.

“I don’t think Liverpool are on Griezmann’s radar at this moment in time.”

“There was a conversation with Griezmann and the Atletico hierarchy after the Madrid derby where he was asked if he was committed to the club.

“Atleti were unhappy with Griezmann’s comments about his future and how he flirts with other clubs.

“He was told he had to focus, to which he asked to be played alongside a strike partner up front. His suggestion has been listened to and now everyone is happy.”
