EXCLUSIVE: Gus Poyet Praises Arne Slot As He Makes Liverpool Premier League Prediction

Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet says he has been “very impressed” with the start that Arne Slot has made to his time in charge of Liverpool.

The Reds are now eight points ahead of Manchester City and speaking exclusively to our sister site ChelseaNews.com (courtesy of BetVictor), Poyet said that he believes the Reds will continue to thrive under the Dutchman:

“Watching Manchester City right now is incredible isn’t it and it’s something that we need to wait and see, but, on the other hand, I’m very impressed with what Slot has done at Liverpool so far.”

“Another one that is coming after, you know, a manager has been there for so long, it’s not easy and he’s convincing the players. He’s tweaking things and they are working. So it looks like it’s going to be a good season for Liverpool.”

Liverpool face City next weekend

Slot’s side could not be in a better position heading into Sunday’s match against their rivals at Anfield. They could stretch their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with a win.

Considering many pundits didn’t expect the Merseysiders to be even challenging for the title, it is an incredible achievement. As Poyet points out, it has all been about building on what has come before and “tweaking” the team’s approach ever so slightly.

The statisticians are backing the Reds to finish in 1st place

Opta have now given Liverpool a 76.03% chance of winning the league, with City on 15.36% and Arsenal on 7.65%. In terms of the predicted points, Slot’s men are expected to finish the season on 86, with City on 78 and the Gunners 75.

Of course, we are still not a third of the way through the campaign yet so a lot can still happen but the Reds have put themselves in an excellent position to secure their 20th top division title.
