Lille forward Jonathan David could be sold for around €35m (£30m) according to reports in the French media.

A dispute between the Canadian international’s agent and the Ligue One club over commission has prompted speculation that the 21-year-old may be offloaded in January or at the end of the season.

A prominent Canadian journalist claimed that Liverpool were monitoring the striker in the summer, and the French press have now backed up those claims. Fans on Twitter have been debating whether the club should look to sign the player:

David has been on the radar of a number of Premier League teams over the years. Arsenal, Leeds and Manchester United have all been mentioned in previous stories but Liverpool do seem to be leading the race for the Canadian.

Having scored 12 goals in 22 appearances so far this campaign, he is definitely performing well enough to be on the Reds’ watchlist, and if he is available for £30m, it would seem like a prudent purchase.
