Liverpool are very much still interested in Sevilla defender Diego Carlos, according to reports in the Spanish media. Claims that the Reds were pursuing the 27-year-old first surfaced back in December last year and it appears the Merseyside club are still keeping tabs on the centre-back.
The Brazilian reportedly has a €70m (£62m) release clause and supporters on Twitter are not sure whether he would be worth the outlay:

Liverpool may well be looking for a replacement for Dejan Lovren in the summer with the Croatian closing in on the final twelve months of his contract at Anfield.
However, Carlos would be very expensive purchase for a position where they are relatively well catered for. In any case, the centre-half has spoken out in recent days that he was unaware of any interest from the Reds:
“So far, my agent has not spoken to me about those situations. I am not interested to know about other teams. I always tell him that, if he is going to tell me something, that it be something firm, that he does not come to me with stories, because I must have my head focussed on Sevilla. I don’t want those things to cause me a distraction.”
Whether the situation will change when the transfer window reopens, it remains to be seen.
