Liverpool look set to snap up another young player with Fulham midfielder Harvey Elliott poised to join the club, according to reports.
The England Under 17 international has opted against signing a professional contract at the Cottagers and is a free agent after ending his scholarship with the Championship side in June.
It is believed the Reds had to beat off stiff competition for Elliott with European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, as well as RB Leipzig, interested in the 16-year-old.
Most fans on Twitter are happy that Liverpool are able to attract the best young talent in the country:
He’s got a great future! ♥️

Another good addition to the academy, bright future but wouldn't expect to hear anything about him for 2 or 3 years in terms of first team.

Others are frustrated about the lack of signings for the senior squad:
When you ask Liverpool to sign some players but they go out and sign a whole secondary school class instead pic.twitter.com/eNDHL7jC1x

Elliott holds the record for the youngest ever debutant in the Premier League. When he came on as a substitute against Wolves back in May, he was just 16 years and 30 days old.
Liverpool’s James Milner was a previous holder of the record, having made his debut for Leeds almost seventeen years ago.
