Honigstein Hands Liverpool Major Transfer Boost As He Confirms That German Wonderkid’s Agent Is Pressing For PL Switch

The agent of Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko is “keen” for the player to join a Premier League club, according to The Athletic journalist Raphael Honigstein.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle have all been mentioned as potential destinations for the German international, whose contract expires at the end of the season. When asked whether Moukoko could yet stay at Dortmund, Honigstein replied:

“Dortmund would like to keep Moukoko but not at any cost. His agent is keen to get him into the Premier League for the new season, so I’m not sure whether an agreement [over a new deal] can be reached.”

Moukoko is a very promising young forward. This season, the 18-year-old has scored six goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances, having established himself as a regular starter at Dortmund.

Securing the teenager on a free transfer next summer would, therefore, be a massive coup. Most reports have suggested that Chelsea are the favourites to sign him at the moment but Liverpool are not out of the race yet.

Moukoko is keen on getting regular game time and manager Jurgen Klopp has shown he is prepared to give young players a chance over the years, so the striker could still be tempted by a switch to Anfield.
