“Hopefully We Will Be A Bit Stronger” Fabinho Lays Down Gauntlet To City And Chelsea

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho is confident that the Reds can rise to the challenge posed by title rivals Manchester City and Chelsea this season.

The Brazilian international believes the team’s past experience of winning the biggest trophies in the game will help them stand toe to toe as they battle for the Premier League:

“This Liverpool squad has already won the Premier League, the Champions League, some important trophies. We have already shown what we are capable of. We don’t pay attention to the other teams. City are the Premier League champions and Chelsea the Champions League champions, and the English teams are always strong and will always fight for trophies.”

“This year won’t be different. We will be strong and they will be strong as well. Hopefully, we will be a bit stronger. We don’t pay too much attention to the other teams, we just focus on us and working hard to be in the best way as possible.”

Jurgen Klopp’s men are coming into the campaign off the back of a difficult year. An injury crisis rid them of the chance of defending their title and they only clinched a top-four finish on the final day.

However, heading into the season opener against Norwich City next weekend, they have very few fitness concerns, with Thiago the only player said to be a doubt with a minor muscular injury.

Preparations for the campaign have been excellent so far, with the first-team squad having spent spells in Austria and France over the past month. They face Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna in their last two friendlies today and tomorrow.
