“I Am Not Ruling It Out…” Sporting Director Confirms January Exit For 35M Rated Liverpool Target Is Possible

Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund says the Austrian club will consider selling Noah Okafor when the transfer window reopens in January.

Reports in Germany in recent days have revealed that Liverpool, Manchester City and AC Milan are interested in the Swiss international. There have been further claims that Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham may also enter the race for the striker. Asked about Okafor’s future, Freund said:

“Okafor really took off last year. I hope that he plays a good World Cup, then the Noah Okafor stock can become very interesting. I am not ruling it out.”

The Reds’ reported interest in Okafor is somewhat surprising, considering many believe that the club’s priority for January should be a midfielder, but it appears the availability of a very talented young player is too good to pass up.

It is thought that the 22-year-old could be available for between €35m (£31m) and €40m (£35m), which is not a sizeable fee for a promising forward. We shall see if Jurgen Klopp’s side are tempted to make a formal offer in the coming weeks.
