Liverpool are considering an approach for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, according to reports in the English media.
The 25-year-old has less than eighteen months left on his contract at Molineux and could be available for a fee well below his original £70m asking price.
Despite the Reds desperately needing to sign a midfielder, though, most supporters on Twitter are sceptical about whether Neves is the right man for the job:
I’ll believe it when I see it

We need legs in midfield I would take him purely because our midfield is that bad currently but we should be looking at players who can cover the ground caicedo is a prime example of a player we should be getting

The main issue in Liverpool’s midfield currently is the lack of mobility and energy; neither of which Neves is known for.
That isn’t to say that the Portuguese international doesn’t have plenty of outstanding qualities. His ability to intercept the ball and make progressive passes has attracted the interest of other teams such as Arsenal and Manchester United in the past, but he isn’t someone who can cover the ground.
A dynamic midfielder, with pace and a high work rate is needed to improve the team’s pressing capabilities and, for that reason, you can’t really consider Neves being a top transfer priority.
