“I Cannot Promise” Serie A Club Director Puts Liverpool On Red Alert As He Reveals 43M Rated Winger Could Leave

Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali has revealed the Serie A side won’t stand in Domenico Berardi’s way if he wants to leave the club this summer.

The Italian international has been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United over the past week, and Carnevali says that Berardi has earned the right to decide his own future:

“Domenico was right in the past to reject offers from other clubs, becoming today an important figure for the Nazionale. I cannot promise that he will remain with us, it’s not a matter of money. Berardi is a special guy, with very clear ideas. He wants to continue enjoying his football. What he wants will be important both for the choice of club and his coach.”

Reports in Italy suggest Sassuolo will demand around €50m (£43m) for the 26-year-old, who scored 17 goals in 30 league appearances last campaign.

That is likely to be too much for the Reds, despite the fact that the Merseyside club are thought to be looking to strengthen their options up front this summer.

Berardi generally plays off the right-wing, cutting in onto his stronger left-foot, much like Mo Salah. The Egyptian will be absent for the African Cup of Nations in January next year but that would hardly justify spending a sizeable sum on a potential understudy.
