Liverpool have an agreement in place to sign Lille midfielder Renato Sanches, according to reports in the Italian media.
It is claimed that the Reds could pay around €20m (£18m) for the Portuguese international as they prepare for the possible departure of Georginio Wijnaldum.
Sanches struggled during a loan spell with Swansea in the Premier League a few years ago and supporters on Twitter are not convinced that the stories linking Liverpool with the 23-year-old are accurate:
I don’t believe this!

£18m in this market is still good, especially under Klopp I can imagine he’ll thrive.

Since leaving Bayern Munich for Lille in the summer of 2019, Sanches has begun to rebuild his career but there would be huge question marks over him if he were to make the move to Anfield in January or at the end of the season.
The midfielder can play a number of different positions and that may be one of the reasons Liverpool are considering him as a potential replacement for Wijnaldum, but most fans would simply like the Dutchman to stay instead.
