“I Heard… ” Journalist Reveals Liverpool’s Summer Transfer Budget And It’s A Lot Higher Than You Might Expect

Liverpool will make £200m to £250m available to spend on new signings next summer, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

The journalist does have a mixed track record but he was correct in reporting Thiago’s move to Anfield in 2020, and he claims he’s been made aware of the Reds’ transfer war chest:

“I heard the club has about £200-250m that they want to spend in the summer, so there’s a good chance they get Bellingham.”

As Falk mentions, that sort of budget means manager Jurgen Klopp can afford to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and probably three to four other players.

Of course, it’s likely that the level of investment will be dependent on whether Liverpool do finish in the Champions League places this season, but it seems a revamp of the squad is in the offing.

While the forward line doesn’t need to be reinforced after the recruitment of Cody Gakpo, the midfield and defence will need to be looked at. The problems in the middle of the park are well documented by strengthening at the back is also required, with both Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk now in their thirties.
