Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn, with the Scottish international likely to be on the list of the Reds’ transfer targets, according to reports in England.
The 26-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Manchester United over the past couple of years, is said to be valued at around £45m to £50m by Villa.
With McGinn’s asking price being so high, supporters on Twitter are hoping that Klopp and Liverpool move on to other options, rather than paying too much for the Scottish midfielder:
I Would pay max 25

Why are we targeting these players? We need names that can actually challenge that XI. We dont need a milner replacement, when he is still there.

We don’t need him

For that price, rather a Bissouma or Tielemans

No way so many better players who can do the rough work and are just as technical.

At £30m to £35m, there is a case to be made that McGinn would be a good addition to the squad, considering Klopp likes midfielders who can run themselves into the ground.
However, with Villa being owned by two billionaires, they are under no pressure to sell for below their valuation, and for that reason, it is unlikely that Liverpool will follow up their interest with a formal bid.
