“I Would Take Him” Ferdinand Calls On Liverpool To Splash Out On 26 Goal Sharpshooter

BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand believes the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United should seriously consider making a summer bid for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Despite reports that Spurs would only sell the England captain for £150m, Ferdinand thinks the 27-year-old would be well worth the investment:

“I want to see him lift trophies. He is an unbelievable talent. He has got ridiculous ability, fantastic goalscorer, a good guy. If I am Man United, if I am Man City, if I am Liverpool, if I am Chelsea, I would take him. Chelsea can’t get him. But if I am one of them three teams, I would take him now.”

Kane would certainly improve any team he joins, having scored 26 goals and contributed 16 goals in all competitions so far this season, but his asking price is likely to scare off most interest.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly after another forward to strengthen his options up front, but there is very little chance that the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, would stump up the cash for Kane.

With the striker turning 28 in July, you may only be getting the player at his peak for the next four to five years, which doesn’t really align with the Reds’ recruitment strategy. Still, it is nice to see Ferdinand consider Liverpool as a possible destination.
