Ian Rush Calls On Liverpool To Sign Soon To Be Free Agent Who Has Scored 4 Goals And Provided 5 Assists This Season

Liverpool legend Ian Rush believes his former club should be in the mix to sign PSG’s Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer next summer.

It is widely believed that the France international, who has scored four goals and provided five assists in 11 appearances this season, will leave the Parc des Princes for Real Madrid in July but Rush thinks he would be an ideal fit for the Reds:

“I think if you look age-wise, Mbappe is absolutely flying. He would suit Liverpool. [Erling] Haaland is also scoring for fun. But they have to fit into Liverpool’s style of play and Mbappe would certainly do that. He is improving and will get even better. You can get an out-and-out goalscorer but if you don’t provide them they don’t score, but Mbappe makes goals as well as scoring them.”

Reports in France over the past couple of years have consistently linked Mbappe with Liverpool, with some even suggesting that manager Jurgen Klopp has talked to the player’s father about a potential transfer to Merseyside. However, the 22-year-old’s heart appears to be set on a switch to Spain.

The Reds are, though, likely to be in the market for a forward next year, regardless of where Mbappe ends up. Both Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will have a year remaining on their contracts at the end of the season, and Mo Salah could be in the same situation if negotiations over a new deal don’t prove to be fruitful.
