Ian Wright Excited By Liverpool Starlet Following “Very, Very Good” Display

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright was very impressed by Liverpool stand-in goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher’s performance against Wolves yesterday evening.

The 22-year-old was making his Premier League debut following his start versus Ajax last week in place of the injured Alisson Becker. He kept clean sheets in both matches and Wright believes the Reds have discovered another promising talent:

“He looks very competent and very, very good. The decisions and saves he is making [are excellent]. I know Adrian came in for a bit and did a good job, but there’s a confidence about this guy. They’ve found another one.”

Kelleher has certainly shown that he is ready for first-team football. There was some debate when manager Jurgen Klopp opted to pick the Irishman ahead of the more experienced Adrian for the Ajax game but the decision has proven to be the correct one.

With Alisson not expected to be out for too much longer, Kelleher may have only more game, the Champions League group stage dead rubber versus FC Midtjylland, in order to show what he can do. No matter what happens, though, it appears he is now the club’s number two keeper.
