BBC pundit Ian Wright believes Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma would be a perfect fit for Liverpool.
The Malian international has actually been heavily linked with Wright’s former club Arsenal, as well as Manchester United, but Wright claims he could do a similar job to what Naby Keita does in the Reds’ midfield:
“Watch his highlights, he’s an exceptional six, an exceptional eight and an exceptional 10. He does all of those roles. He is absolutely brilliant. I feel he is tailor-made for Liverpool. What they wanted from Naby Keita is exactly what Bissouma can do for them. If they can get him, it goes again for Liverpool.”
If the finances were right, Bissouma would definitely be a primary target for Jurgen Klopp’s side but, with Brighton not needing to sell after the £50m sale of Ben White, it would be a difficult deal to complete.
Most reports have suggested that the Seagulls would demand at least £40m for the 24-year-old, which is unlikely to be a figure that would attract Liverpool to the negotiating table.
If Bissouma does continue to put in the type of performances we have seen from him in recent weeks, though, it will only be a matter of time before he signs for a bigger club.
