“I’ll Be Ready…” Forward Hands Liverpool Massive Fitness Boost Ahead Of Packed January Schedule

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has confirmed he has fully recovered from a calf injury that kept him out of the Boxing Day win over Aston Villa.

The Brazilian says that he will still not be available to face Leicester on Friday night, but he should be back in the matchday squad for the trip to Brentford next week:

“I’m already healed, thank God. I’ll probably train tomorrow [Thursday]. Then all being well I’ll be ready, not for the next game [Leicester], but the one after that [Brentford]. So all great.”

Manager Jurgen Klopp has had very few options to choose from up front in the games against Manchester City and Villa, with Firmino having joined Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota on the treatment table.

However, with Cody Gakpo having also joined from PSV Eindhoven, the Reds should have at least four forwards ready to play in January, giving them the extra firepower they need to get through a challenging fixture list.

After Brentford on Monday, Liverpool take on Wolves at home in the FA Cup before league matches against Brighton and Chelsea.
