“Imminent…” Florian Plettenberg Provides Key Transfer Update Involving Liverpool And Chelsea

RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer’s move to Bayern Munich is “imminent”, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Writing in his report with colleague Philipp Hinze, Plettenberg reveals that Liverpool and Chelsea were “still hoping” that Laimer would turn down a move to the Bundesliga champions in order to make the switch to England.

However, it looks as though any lingering hopes will soon be extinguished with Laimer expected to sign a pre-contract agreement with Bayern from January 1st.

The Austrian international is believed to be very keen on linking up with his former manager, Julian Nagelsmann, who was at Leipzig before he moved to the Allianz Arena in 2021.

With a move for Laimer now seemingly dead in the water, Liverpool will have to consider pursuing other midfield targets. The likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes have been mentioned as potential options but it remains to be who will be available when the transfer window reopens.
