Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold’s woeful form continued in last night’s shock 1-0 home defeat to Burnley.
The 22-year-old failed to deliver a single decent cross all evening and was among a host of players who put in poor performances as the Reds lost their formidable unbeaten home league record.
On Twitter, fans have even been asking whether Alexander-Arnold should be dropped to the bench for the upcoming FA Cup tie against Manchester United this weekend, but many don’t believe there is anyone who could replace him:
Yes, it’s crazy how bad he’s playing at the mo!

No. We don’t have a better backup

Defo. Time for a good rest. He’s been quality under relentless pressure for a couple of years now. Still only young and he’ll be back to his best but he’s suffering at the moment.

Milner needs to start

Unfair to single @TrentAA when most of the team aren’t playing well

Who have we got instead of him? Neco? Nope – definitely has to start still. His form has been off for 12 months though – but since we sold Clyne, there’s nobody to replace him.

Neco deserves his chances puts his all in and think he is better defensively

I think someone already put a spell on him hes like a different player.

We dont have other option for him.

Bench him for who? He’s performing poorly, but he’s the best we’ve got and it’s not even close.

The alternative options at right-back are not particularly great. Neco Williams has struggled with his own form this season so the main alternative would be James Milner but, at 35 years of age, he is hardly the long-term solution.
Manager Jurgen Klopp may have to persist with Alexander-Arnold for now and hope the England international works his way back into some sort of form over the coming weeks.
