“It’s Not Over Yet…” Paul Ince Issues Verdict On Liverpool’s Top Four Chances

Liverpool still have a “glimmer” of hope in terms of finishing in the Champions League places, according to Paul Ince.

The former Reds and Manchester United captain believes the race for top four could be blown wide open if West Ham get a result against the Red Devils this weekend:

“Listen, it’s not over yet. We spoke to Ten Hag about how important it is to get them into the Champions League, Liverpool are four points behind them now. United have got a game in hand, but they’ve got to go to West Ham which is never an easy place to go. So, there’ll be a little glimmer in Liverpool’s eyes at the moment.”

United’s defeat to Brighton on Thursday evening means they are only four points ahead of Jurgen Klopp‘s side with a game in hand.

However, it would still need an almighty collapse from their rivals for Liverpool to finish fourth. As well as needing United to lose against the Hammers, they would also have to draw two of their final four matches, while Klopp’s men would have to win every game just to go above them on goal difference.

From that perspective, the Reds’ hopes of Champions League football are rather slim, unless Newcastle also start to lose matches in the next few weeks.
