It’s ‘now or never’ for Xherdan Shaqiri insists former Switzerland and Tottenham star

Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri must finally take his chance at a big club, says former Spurs star Ramon Vega.

Shaqiri moved to Anfield in a £13 million move from Stoke City during the summer after the Potters were relegated from the Premier League.

Prior to his three-year spell at the bet365 Stadium, Shaqiri spent three seasons with Bayern Munich – where he won two Bundesliga titles – and a solitary season with Inter Milan.

However the Swiss international was never a regular at either, and Vega now says he must seize the opportunity to establish himself at Anfield.

“He is a talented player, but in the big clubs he has never been a regular,” he told Blick.

“On potential, he could make it at Liverpool. His chance will come with the double burden. But he has to use it.

“For me Liverpool is very hot for the championship title. That he could transfer there is a dream.”

Shaqiri has featured just twice, both from the bench, for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, however he will be hoping for more regular game time when the Reds’ Champions League campaign kicks off next week.

Liverpool welcome Ligue 1 champions Paris St-Germain to Anfield next Tuesday, before travelling to Napoli in early October.

Shaqiri won the Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2013.
