Manager Jurgen Klopp added more detail about Henderson’s return following Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Bournemouth yesterday, stating he will make a late decision on whether to select the club captain against Atletico:
“Hendo was out, I don’t know exactly in this moment, but I think he will train tomorrow. If that looks good, I have to make a decision. For sure [it will be good to have him back] and some others as well.”
Henderson has missed three weeks of action since injuring his hamstring in the first leg against Atletico and it will be a tough call on whether to take a risk on the player.
Especially with hamstring injuries, there is always a risk of a recurrence but with it being such an important game, Klopp may opt to take the gamble. With Andy Robertson also having sat out the victory versus the Cherries, there a number of question marks about selection for the Champions League knockout tie.
