James Pearce Confirms Liverpool Are Looking At 24 Year Old As Cheaper Alternative To Jamal Lewis

Liverpool are interested in Olympiakos left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas, according to The Athletic‘s Reds’ correspondent James Pearce.

The reliable former Liverpool Echo journalist says that the 24-year-old is being looked at as a potential alternative if the Merseyside club can’t agree a fee with Norwich for Jamal Lewis.

Liverpool are prepared to pay £8m up front, with £2m in add-ons for the Northern Ireland international but the Canaries will only consider bids starting at £20m.

With sporting director Michael Edwards unlikely to pay over the odds for a backup left-back, especially in the current financial climate, it could lead to the Reds making a move for Tsimikas instead.

The Greek international had a decent season for Olympiakos, providing seven assists in 45 appearances. He has been scouted by the likes of Leicester, Arsenal and Sheffield United in the past year, as well as being monitored by teams such as Napoli, Inter Milan and Rangers.
