Jota, Henderson And Robertson To Start, Tsimikas On The Bench: Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Play Southampton

After coming through the Champions League group dead-rubber versus Porto unscathed, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does have a bigger squad available for today’s clash against Southampton.

Alisson will start in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to be recalled at right-back, replacing Neco Williams. Klopp was effusive in his praise of Andy Robertson in his press conference yesterday so expect the Scotland captain to come back in for Kostas Tsimikas, despite the Greek international’s excellent form.

With Joe Gomez still sidelined with a calf problem and Ibrahima Konate not really impressing midweek, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip are likely to remain the favoured centre-back pairing for the foreseeable future.

In midfield, Thiago is expected to keep his place, with Fabinho and the fit-again Jordan Henderson making up the midfield three.

Diogo Jota was rested for Porto after sustaining a nasty knock to his knee against Arsenal, but it is hoped that the Portuguese international will be ready to start alongside Sadio Mane and Mo Salah this afternoon.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Southampton:

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Salah, Jota, Mane
