Jota, Van Dijk And Keita To Start, Nunez And Fabinho On The Bench: Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Newcastle

Liverpool’s season could be defined by the result against Newcastle this weekend. A win at St James’ Park and a top-four finish is very much back on the cards.

Alisson will start in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson keeping their positions at fullback. After being on the bench for the Merseyside derby, Virgil van Dijk should be ready to start after another week of training. The Dutchman could replace the error-prone Joel Matip, with Joe Gomez staying in the eleven.

In midfield, Fabinho is still nowhere near his best, so manager Jurgen Klopp could move Stefan Bajcetic back to no.6 and hand Naby Keita another start. Captain Jordan Henderson is expected to retain his place.

Up front, for the first time in a while, there are some decisions to make. Diogo Jota’s ability to press could lead to him being recalled, and one of Darwin Nunez or Cody Gakpo will have to make way. The Uruguayan could be given a rest and then unleashed as an impact sub. After scoring against Everton, Mo Salah will almost certainly stay in the team.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Play Newcastle:

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Bajcetic, Keita, Salah, Gakpo, Jota
