Journalist Claim Hands Liverpool Major Boost In Race To Sign Kylian Mbappe

ESPN journalist Julien Laurens has claimed that Real Madrid will not have the money to buy Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe next summer.

The 22-year-old has 18 months left on his contract at the Parc des Princes and there has been increased speculation about his future, along with his teammate Neymar, but Laurens says Mbappe is highly unlikely to make the switch to Spain:

“Today, no one can afford Neymar or Mbappe. Not even Real Madrid. They don’t have the money to buy Mbappe this summer and pay the salary he wants.”

It has always been felt that Mbappe would prefer a move to Real Madrid if he had a choice but reports in Spain and France over the past year have also consistently mentioned Liverpool as another possible destination.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big fan of the France international, and would be interested in taking him to Anfield were he made available for transfer.

PSG will, of course, do everything they can to keep Mbappe but, if he doesn’t sign a new deal, they will be forced to make a decision on his future at the end of the season. Whether Liverpool would have the funds to pay the striker’s transfer fee and wages, though, is another matter entirely so supporters shouldn’t be getting their hopes up quite yet.
