Journalist Claims Liverpool Have Offered 173K A Week Contract To In Demand Bundesliga Star

Liverpool have offered Bayern Munich defender David Alaba £9m a year (£173,000 a week) to join them on a free transfer in the summer, according to journalist Romeo Agresti.

The claim, which was reportedly made on a Twitch stream, indicates that the Reds are stepping up their chase for the Austrian international, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

A more widely known reporter, The Athletic‘s David Ornstein, has already said Liverpool are one of the teams interested in Alaba, although it is still believed that Real Madrid are in pole position to sign him.

Reports in Germany suggest that up to five clubs, including the Premier League champions, are after the 28-year-old, which means the Merseyside club do have a battle on their hands to secure the defender’s signature.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have also been mentioned as potential destinations but it is not known which of these are among the five teams mentioned.
