Journalist Claims Liverpool “Want” 21 Year Old With £12.6m Bid Having Already Been Rejected

Liverpool are looking to sign Racing Genk midfielder Sander Berge in January, according to RTBF journalist Pascal Scime. Speaking on Italian radio, the reporter claims that a €15m (£12.6m) offer has already been made, although he doesn’t specifically say which club made the bid.

He was also asked about Napoli’s interest in the Norwegian international but hinted that a switch to England would be more beneficial to the 21-year-old:

“Liverpool want him. In January he can go. First offer of €15m was refused. Napoli? He is a player who would fit more in the Premier League than in Serie A.”

Whether Scime has accurate information about the Reds’ pursuit of Berge, we shall have to wait and see. There is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the midfielder, having praised him following the 2-1 win over Genk at Anfield.

However, Liverpool are fully stocked in central midfield. By January, Fabinho will have returned from his ankle injury, joining the likes of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana as options in the middle of the park.
