Liverpool are “ready” to table a bid for Chelsea’s Levi Colwill if the Blues make the defender available for transfer this summer, according to the Evening Standard‘s Nizaar Kinsella.

The journalist claims that both the Reds and Manchester City are keen on signing the centre-back, who has been compared to a young John Terry.

Colwill is currently on loan at Brighton but he isn’t keen on going out on a temporary basis again next season. It leaves him in a somewhat difficult position.

Chelsea have plenty of options in the centre of defence and he may not get the game time he needs if he stays at Stamford Bridge.

His parent club will also have to consider selling players due to Financial Fair Play regulations. Those two factors could combine to present an opportunity for Liverpool, who are keen to recruit homegrown players. We shall see how this transfer story unfolds.
