Journalist Confirms That Liverpool “Are Serious” About Signing 51M Rated Defensive Colossus

Liverpool “are serious” about snapping up Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Sport Mediaset journalist Claudio Raimondi.

The Italian reporter was interviewed on TV about the Reds’ interest yesterday and he claims Napoli will hold out for at least €60m (£51m) for the 29-year-old.

Koulibaly has been the subject of interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea over the past few years but his stock has fallen slightly, both due to a drop in form and his age.

The Senegalese international will turn 30 in June, but the centre-back still has over two years remaining on his contract at Napoli, and the Serie A side’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reluctant to let him go on the cheap.

Koulibaly’s asking price, combined with his lack of resale value, means it is highly unlikely that Liverpool will make a move for the player in the summer. Raimondi’s claims should, therefore, be taken with a large pinch of salt.
