Journalist Makes “Likely Destination” Claim As Liverpool Battle Rivals To Sign 6ft 4 Defender On Free Transfer

Napoli are winning the race to sign Liverpool target Evan Ndicka, according to GiveMeSport journalist Dean Jones.

In late March, it was claimed that the Reds had joined the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham in pursuing the 6ft 4 centre-back, whose contract at Eintracht Frankfurt expires at the end of the season. However, Jones has played down the chances of the player moving to Anfield, with Napoli currently his most “likely destination”:

“Liverpool have been linked with Evan Ndicka as a potential solution to helping their defensive depth for next season, but it seems Napoli is a more likely destination. It’s an interesting one because the profile of the player seems a good fit, but over the past couple of weeks I have struggled to find anyone that believes it is going to be a deal Liverpool push for.”

“And now in Italy, there seems to be confidence that Napoli are looking at him and are putting themselves in a good position to make a proposal. So it feels like we can probably scratch him off the list.”

Ndicka is in high demand across Europe. In addition to the teams mentioned, reports suggest that the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain have also been keeping tabs on the defender.

Considering the fact that he is still only 23 years of age, and is available on a free transfer, it is not a surprise that so many clubs are vying for his signature. If Jones is to be believed, though, it doesn’t sound like Liverpool are one of the frontrunners.
