The agent of Lille striker Victor Osimhen has been holding talks with Liverpool, according to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato.
The Nigerian international was expected to sign for Napoli for €60m (£54m) but the move has been delayed with the forward having switched representatives to William d’Avila.
D’Avila has seemingly tried to get a better deal for Osimhen, with the Reds and Manchester United both having been linked with the 21-year-old in recent days, and Venerato told an Italian TV channel that the situation remains complicated:
“There are doubts and certainties about the Osimhen operation. Napoli have an agreement with Lille but there are still things to solve, we are 80% [there]. The agent has been talking to Liverpool for days and is trying to turn the promises made to the player into reality.”
Napoli are very much in the driving seat to sign the forward it appears and it would be a surprise if Liverpool sanctioned such a sizeable offer for a player considering the current financial climate.
It’s more than likely that Lille are trying to get a better deal for Osimhen and have been touting him to other clubs, along with his new agent. It is believed they were hoping to get €80m (£73m) for the player.
