Liverpool say midfielder Naby Keita is fine despite being taken to hospital last night after suffering a back injury in the Champions League defeat by Napoli.

Keita, 23, went down unchallenged after just 19 minutes, before being stretchered off the field and replaced by Jordan Henderson.

The Guinean was then taken to a local hospital, where he was assessed and given the all clear to return to Anfield with the rest of the squad today.

While it remains unclear whether he will be able to feature this weekend against Manchester City, the news that the injury is not serious will have been welcomed by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

Keita has been one of Liverpool’s star players so far this season, impressing fans and pundits alike with his energetic performances in the middle of the park.

Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday afternoon as they battle out for top spot in the Premier League.

Both sides remain unbeaten in the league this season, having won six and drawn one of their seven games so far.
