Jurgen Klopp reveals Liverpool star could still have a future at the club

It’s fair to say that Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has had a torrid time with injuries over the last few years.

The England international is one of the best strikers in the world on his day, and has often produced brilliant displays that leave us all mesmerised.

But the 28-year-old hasn’t quite been right for a number of years now, and has endured several long-term injuries in his time at Anfield. It’s a huge shame for the former Chelsea forward, but one that he will hopefully overcome in the coming season – preferably in a Red shirt.

And Jurgen Klopp has given the green light for exactly that to happen, with him insisting Sturridge may well have a future at Anfield still.

Sturridge has only managed to pass the 10-goal mark once over the last four seasons, and was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion last January in order to reignite his career. But he failed to find the net in any of his 10 appearances for the club, before suffering with yet another injury.

It seems as if his career at Liverpool is all but over, but Klopp has offered a glimmer of hope to the forward.

“I always said there is a future, it’s about what we do in the moment. At the moment it’s all good and we don’t have to make decisions,” Klopp said.

“I don’t think about my players like this like, maybe he’s in or out. With the young ones we make these decisions but not with the other guys. They show up, and it should be easy for me in the end.

“The window is still open, right? Is it closing tomorrow? No? Good!”

Liverpool will travel to the US later this month for the International Champions Cup, and it remains to be seen whether Sturridge will make the trip.
