Klopp all but confirms Emre Can’s departure

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has all but revealed Emre Can’s departure from Anfield, after admitting he has stopped speaking to the player about his contract situation.

The German’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and despite persistent attempts from Liverpool, he is to leave at the end of the season on a free transfer.

It is a bitter blow for Liverpool losing one of their biggest upcoming stars, but he is certainly not a player Klopp will want around if he himself does not want to be there. After all, he is replaceable.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, manager Jurgen Klopp said: “I said that he can sign but the only difference from January is that he can also sign for another club, that’s all.”

“For us there is no difference. As long as we don’t get the information that he’s signed for another club, there’s nothing to say about it.

“And I speak a lot to Emre, like other players too, but it’s pretty rare that I speak to him about the contract situation because I’ve gave already all the information that we can give.

“That’s it.”

Juventus and Bayern Munich are heavily linked with moves for the midfielder.
