Klopp Backing Move For Algerian Midfield Dynamo Who Arsenal Sold For Less Than 1M

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Algerian international is currently negotiating a new contract with the Serie A champions and if he can’t agree an extension, the Rossoneri will have to consider selling the player.

Bennacer actually started his professional career at Arsenal before he was sold for less than £1m to Empoli. He joined Milan in 2019 and he is now regarded as one of their key stars.

With his current deal set to expire at the end of next season, though, Premier League clubs have been monitoring his situation.

In addition to the Reds, Chelsea and his former club Arsenal are said to be keeping a watchful eye on Bennacer’s contract negotiations.

If Klopp is a keen admirer of the 24-year-old, and the player is open to a switch to Anfield, you wouldn’t bet against a deal being agreed either in January or at the end of the season.
