Klopp eyeing stunning move for Bayern Munich superstar

Jurgen Klopp is keen to bringing Bayern Munich loanee James Rodriguez to Anfield this summer, according to reports from Spain.

Don Balon report that the German has identified James as the successor to Philippe Coutinho, who left for Barcelona in a record £142 million deal earlier this month.

The Colombia international is on a two year loan deal at Bayern from his parent club Real Madrid, and has had a sensational start to his career at the Allianz, emerging as a player key for Jupp Heynckes side in the first half of the campaign.

Since his move, James has made 20 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring three goals and registering five assists, and was on-hand to score a sensational free-kick in a 3-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen last week.

Liverpool have been given hope of landing the 26-year-old midfielder despite being only six months into his deal at the Allianz however, with Bayern emerging as favourites to land Schalke’s Leon Goretzka.

Any such move for the German international – who is out of contract with Schalke at the end of the season – would likely see James become surplus to requirements at Bayern. And with no place for him in Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid side, the former Monaco star could be forced to search for first team football elsewhere.

Liverpool would be expected to pay in the region of £70 million for James however, with Madrid keen to retrieve most of the money paid for him back in the summer of 2014.

Chelsea and Manchester United are both also thought to be interested in the Colombia international.
