Klopp Hints At Surprise Selection Decision For Liverpool’s Clash Against Bayern

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Dejan Lovren still has a chance of being selected against Bayern Munich tomorrow night.

The defender has been struggling to recover from a hamstring injury he picked up last month, but the Reds boss said at his pre-match press conference today that the Croatian will undergo a late fitness test:

“Dejan, I actually have to wait minute by minute if there is a chance or not. But that’s pretty much all, I would say.”

Whether that is Klopp trying to keep Bayern guessing about his starting line up, it remains to be seen.

Playing Lovren if he is not 100% fit could be just as much of a risk as playing a midfielder in the backline.

Fabinho is favourite to partner Joel Matip in the middle of the defence, after the Brazilian performed well in the position, both against Wolves in the FA Cup and in the 1-0 league win over Brighton.

Jordan Henderson would be the likeliest alternative. The Liverpool captain was set to play as a centre-back against Wolves last month before injury ruled him out of the game.
