Klopp Makes Title Race Claim As Liverpool, City And Chelsea Break Away From The Pack

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has looked to play down expectations about a title challenge, despite the Reds being just two points off the top of the table after 14 games.

Klopp’s side, along with Manchester City and Chelsea, are already well clear of the chasing pack, prompting excitement of a three-way title race but, when asked about the mouth-watering prospect, Klopp replied:

“Is it already a title race? I don’t know. It’s a very, very good highest quality league. It’s unbelievable how good you have to be to win this. If we are around there that is our target. You cannot win in November, December but you can lose it maybe. I can’t see it in the moment already as a title race.”

Klopp is, of course, not going to make any claims about the Reds’ title chances at this stage of the season, with so many matches left to play, but he will know that the top three have already demonstrated their dominance over the rest of the league.

Of course, one or perhaps even two of the title hopefuls could drop away over the Christmas period or in January due to the intense fixture schedule so Klopp will probably not be drawn on any title talk until well into the New Year.
